Mousehole | The
CottageStar Haze is in the heart of the village of Mousehole and is over two floors. Originally two bedrooms, but now a one double bedroom cottage, it is a generous size for a Cornish cottage. Due to the higgledy piggledy nature of the cottages near the harbour, Star Haze has part of another property above it. It sleeps two using the double bedroom, but can sleep a family of up to five as the lounge has a double sofa bed and bed-chair, and there is a separate dining room. We have tried to equipped the cottage with everything you should want for your self catering holiday in Cornwall. We
have retained lovely traditional features in the cottage such as the original
fireplace with potbellied stove, exposed beams and granite walls. There are very
efficient electric storage heaters in the lounge, dining room and bedroom, plus
a heated towel rail in the bathroom. We provide you with towels, tea towels and
duvet sets for five, and your electricity is included in the price.DOWNSTAIRS: Dining Room You enter the cottage from the tiny porch area through a stable door into the pretty beamed dining room. This room has an extendable dining table and four chairs. A delightful window seat is set in the white painted granite walls. This is a favourite place for us to sit, as you can watch the comings and goings down the windy street to the harbour. There is plenty of cupboard space for hanging coats, and a radio, iron and ironing board, storage heater, hoover and airing cupboard. Double bedroom From
the dining room there is a door leading into the double bedroom, which has
a 4ft double bed and mattress. Duvets and pillows will be made up ready for
your arrival. The window is a basement window and so light comes from above. The
room is decorated in fresh simple style in white with pale wood. There is a wardrobe,
drawers and full length mirror. Also provided in the room are a hair dryer, bedside
lights, an alarm clock and large storage heater. Bathroom Off
the dining room there is a door leading into the bathroom which has an electric
shower, toilet, mirrors, heated towel rail and hand basin. The window is onto
the lane and has a white blind. UPSTAIRS:
KitchenIn the morning the kitchen is flooded with the early sun. It has lots of storage space and from the window a tiny glimpse of the sea and coastline above the rooftops! There is an electric cooker, washer/dryer, refrigerator, microwave, and all the things you might need like a toaster, kettle, liquidiser, toasted sandwich maker, coffee machine, coffee grinder and an assortment of utensils, food preparation knives, kitchen scissors, crockery, cutlery, garlic crusher and chopping boards. We have tried to provide everything you should need to cook a gourmet meal. Lounge In
the welcoming and spacious main lounge the large window looks out onto other cottages
and enjoys the afternoon sun. There is a small flat screen colour T.V. and a CD/video player, a
comfortable large sofa (which is also a sofa bed with duvet storage beneath) and
a comfy armchair that folds out into a further single bed if needed. There is
a fold-down breakfast bar for two with stools. The little pot bellied stove is
in a fireplace within the exposed granite wall with alcoves either side holding
a small library of books, clock,videos/CDs. board games and cards, and a stereo system with
a small selection of CD's. We have also provide a basket for picnics, with plates,
cutlery and picnic rug. Ice packs in the freezer. We enjoy taking our lunch down
to the beach in the harbour to watch the boats potter in and out
and we
hope you will too! |
